1. What is Laser Liposuction? Back to Top
Laser Liposuction is a laser-assisted lipolysis system that offers a minimally invasive procedure for the removal of fat. It involves a high-powered laser that provides exceptional body sculpting with less down time and side effects than traditional liposuction.
2. How does the treatment work? Back to Top
A very small cannula, or tube, containing a laser fiber is inserted into the skin. This cannula is moved back and forth delivering the laser's energy to the fat cells, causing them to rupture and easily drain away. The laser energy also interacts with the dermis resulting in collagen shrinkage.
Due to the cannula's small size, Laser Liposuction is considered a minimally invasive procedure that can be performed under local anesthesia. The laser causes small blood vessels to coagulate immediately on contact, resulting in less bleeding, swelling and bruising, and a quicker recovery time than conventional liposuction.
3. How soon can I see results? Back to Top
Results can be seen immediately with continued improvement over several months.
4. What areas of the body can be treated? Back to Top
Laser Liposuction is a good complement to traditional liposuction procedures because it is ideal for treating small areas of the face, neck, arms, knees, back, bra strap, mons pubis, breasts (gynecomastia), and areas of loose skin.
5. What are the side effects? Back to Top
Although some patients experience minor swelling and bleeding, generally there is less trauma with few side effects as compared to traditional liposuction because of the size of the cannula used.
6. How many treatments are needed? Back to Top
For most patients, typically only one treatment is required. The session may last from 45 minutes to one hour for each area treated.
7. Is there much downtime associated with the treatment? Back to Top
Although sometimes referred to as the "lunchtime Liposuction", we generally advise patients to take several days of rest before continuing normal activity to minimize the possibility of side effects.
8. Who is the best candidate for treatments? Back to Top
Patients who have areas of fat that do not respond to diet and exercise are good candidates if they are also in good health, of normal body weight and have realistic expectations regarding actual results of the procedure.
